✨ Highlights of the Week

jeannie – my beatbox friend from hong kong – randomly messaged me today. she read my smart notes blog post and went “holy shit bruther, this insightful piece.” she hadn’t even finished reading but was too excited to wait before sending me a message.

这种感觉真的好棒.

someone actually read what i wrote, got something out of it, and came back to talk to me about it.

she even created a fleeting note from my article HAHA – verbatim, but hey, that’s step one right?

she had 4 questions about the workflow:

  1. literature notes = prettified fleeting notes?
  2. how to extract atomic ideas?
  3. do i use AI to process notes?
  4. are the blog posts AI-generated?

the fact that she asked those questions means she was actually thinking about the method, not just skimming. and question 3 was sharp – md + git IS good input for AI. she got that immediately.

this whole thing reminded me why i write. it’s not for views or clout. it’s for that one person who reads it and goes “oh shit, i need to try this.”

📝 Little Lesson

after the jeannie chat, i realised my blog posts are all islands – ~100 posts with almost zero cross-links. so i did my first retroactive linking pass with claude code. added zettelkasten-style links to my NUS notebooks, starting from the NUS-BIT notebook as a structure note (Map of Content).

ugh, and i know that it wasn’t efficient to refactor, so that’s something to keep in mind for every convergence sesh i do next time.

the key insight: a link sentence isn’t “see also.” it’s telling the reader what they’ll get if they click. “anything i found worth dropping while relearning python” hits different from “see my notebook.”

4 forward links + 4 auto backlinks = 8 new connections. small start, but the network compounds. and basically that was also the main reason why i added “Mentioned In” & “Mentions” on top of my single blog post page.

✨ Memories
