✨ Highlights of the Week

was another week of seeing how the current big companies are fighting over their LLMs.

lately i’ve been realising that we are actually paying the company when we are contributing our data to them. the idea is kinda ridiculous. it’s like paying to eat at the same restaurant every night. the chef learns ur favourite dish, and becomes someone who understands u the most. eventually u will never know if the chef would turn ur dishes into their dishes in the restaurant, u’ll never know. seeing more and more companies trying to give tokens as a reward for developers to “be creative”… it just made me think so much that

they are basically doing what i do with my subagents, letting them brainstorm some ideas and come back with the best one, in short… but seeing how they do it officially and legally like that and eventually take all the credit is just insane.

it’s got me thinking, is it really a win-win? while ur data is far more precious, u’re still paying to give out ur data. perhaps, having LLMs running locally would really be a direction slowly. especially seeing what kimi k3 performance is like.

📚 NUS

Extracted six completed modules into their own private repos, splitting my own work from course materials, and rebuilt the progress tracker as a lean live scaffold with per-term archives
Locked Business Analytics as the degree focus area, then declared it (alongside SWE, for optionality) through APAD before course registration opened
Ran a rot sweep across the workspace docs, repointing the module paths the extraction broke and restoring a missing 4-unit unrestricted elective to the degree plan

✍️ Blog

Published a research note on why curation beats collection, on what 230 free AI agents actually added to my setup
Re-scoped the reading collection to a wishlist plus resources, flattened the book taxonomy into one top-level Reading category, and linked the existing book notes back into it
Drafted the 7 Habits note with a per-chapter meaning pass
Rebuilt the NUS progress board as a coarse status page with a pure CSS journey timeline, cutting it from 254 lines to 60

🔧 Projects

🏋️ Gym Buddy

Shipped the diet loop v1: photograph a meal and have its macros digested straight into the day’s totals
Added a bulk, cut or maintain direction that drives the calorie target off bodyweight
Added weigh-ins, a meal photo gallery with a full-res lightbox, and read-only browsing of past days
Turned the onboarding quiz into a full-screen takeover that presets the training week and saves as a training profile
Rebuilt the admin console on a Data Desk theme, with a bento dashboard, a sortable users table, and per-user roles and feature entitlements
Opened a coach surface for curating students, with a student detail page behind it
Swept the exercise catalogue onto grip-specific movements, so a plan can no longer ship a vague generic

🛠️ Tooling and site

Hardened the portfolio hero for mobile with dynamic viewport tracking and safe-area insets, and gave the profile README a career gantt with a live NOW line
Wrote a bughunt skill that chains issue triage through to the pull request, so a bug report walks itself to a branch

💪 Fitness

Took a student through to graduation, and walked back my own first read on the way: the posture problem I had built their plan around was not actually there once I reassessed
Relaxed a blanket “never hold your breath” rule into breath timing, after assessing the person in front of me instead of defaulting to the safest possible instruction. The cue that finally landed: you are under the water on the way down, and you surface to swap air at the top
Held off putting them on the app at graduation. Building someone a profile before they commit is building ahead of need, so the plan stays a perk of paying rather than a parting gift
Wrote three coaching skills covering the first inquiry, the plan build and the session write-up, so the workflow repeats without sounding like AI house style
Corrected the Day 6 pulldown to neutral-grip in my own Block 1 competition plan
